Welcome to Edinburgh U3A
The University of the Third Age
Edinburgh U3A is part of the International U3A movement founded in Europe
in 1972. It currently has over 1200 members and it exists as a learning co-operative
to enable members to share learning and leisure activities. Its aim is to
enable members to work together in preserving and adding value to their quality
of life. U3A membership is not related to a specific age but to a period
in one's life (the third age) after the second age of full-time employment
and parental responsibility. Anybody in their third age can join U3A and
this includes people who are working part time. There is no lower age for
membership.
Our Activities...
Our activities are centered on over one hundred activity groups ranging
from Aquafit to Yoga through Art, Craft, Languages and Science. Do have
a look
at the
activity groups list to see the
full range. Our
Lunch Club have
reasonably priced monthly lunches at various city venues and the
Visits Group organises coach outings.
The Clarion newsletter

The
Clarion is our newsletter which is sent out to all members in Spring
and Autumn.
In the
Clarion-Online section
on this site you can find current and previous online issues of Clarion.
Our Meetings...
We have an
open meeting once a month, in which
there is a short talk and announcements of future events. A cup of tea
or coffee enables members to engage in relaxed discussion and exchange
ideas in a friendly atmosphere.
Your invitation to join us...
The annual subscription to Edinburgh U3A is twelve pounds per year for individuals
or seventeen pounds for couples due at the beginning of each session. This
is excellent value. We hope you will join us and play your part in our activities.
New members are made very welcome. If you are interested in becoming a member,
come along to an open meeting and make yourself known to a member of the
committee,
